Exploring Etsy – Hello all!

Exploring Etsy with loadofolbobbins!

Hello and may I just say what a pleasure it is to meet you all *extends virtual handshake* I suppose I should really introduce myself, I’m Loadofolbobbins aka Jessica Taylor and over the coming weeks and months I shall be taking you all on a stitch adventure uncovering some of the best needlecraft Etsy has to offer, think of me as your David Attenborough of craft. However, for my first post I thought it would be a good idea to present you all with my credentials and tell you all about my work.

When I’m not busy making friends with pigeons I can be found stitching or drawing by the coast in Portsmouth. I graduated from Winchester School of Art with a BA(Hons) in Textile art in 2008, but I think my fate was sealed when my tiny toddler hands had their first finger painting experience, from that point on I’ve been hooked on all things creative. The first thing I remember stitching was an Early Learning Centre cross-stitched bookmark with one of those exceptionally blunt child-friendly needles, after many a finger stabbing incident I sometimes wish I still used one.

As a Textile Artist and Illustrator I like to experiment with lots of techniques, particularly hand embroidery and free motion machine embroidery. Like most arty folk my inspiration can strike at any time and from anywhere but a constant source for me has been old photographs and their link to family histories. My foray into illustration has been quite a new development, inspired and encouraged by my family, particularly my fab older sister.

Now, after much admiring from afar, I have taken the plunge and opened my own Etsy shop. After only a short time exploring the wonders Etsy has to offer I have found a treasure trove of stitchy creations to share with you all. If any of you have made similar discoveries and would like to show me a needlecraft artist I may not know please don’t hesitate to get in contact.
